Tagum Cooperative continues to demonstrate its commitment to youth development with the successful launch of the Learning Camp, held on November 30, 2024, at the TC Gymnasium and Function Hall. Attended by selected youth members and teacher coordinators, the event blended sports, arts, and life skills education to empower young savers on their journey toward holistic growth.

The camp’s rationale highlights the importance of equipping young individuals with not only financial literacy but also critical life skills. Designed to build resilience, discipline, and teamwork, the camp also emphasized the value of social engagement and mental well-being. Through activities such as team sports, art workshops, and discussions on mindfulness, participants explored ways to balance personal growth with financial independence.

The program kicked off with Zumba, energizing attendees before diving into simultaneous activities: a Dance Workshop, a Pencil Art Workshop on “Still Life Drawing,” and a Volleyball Tournament for boys and girls. Each activity aimed to reinforce teamwork, creativity, and physical fitness. A highlight of the afternoon was the Spoken Poetry Competition, where young poets showcased their talent and passion, representing various TC branches.
A key feature of the camp was its emphasis on mental health. Talks on stress management and mindfulness provided participants with tools to navigate the pressures of academics and personal responsibilities.

The day culminated with the announcement of winners for each activity, recognizing participants’ efforts and achievements. The Volleyball Tournament, Pencil Art Workshop, Dance Workshop, and Spoken Poetry Competition winners received accolades, further inspiring the youth to continue pursuing excellence. Inspirational messages from TC leaders underscored the cooperative’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals who embody the values of teamwork and collaboration.
The Learning Camp reinforced Tagum Cooperative’s mission of financial empowerment while also serving as a platform to cultivate the next generation of leaders, resilient in character and rich in mutual-help spirit. Such meaningful initiatives transformed lives by investing in the youth’s potential and capability. Kenn M. Tayogandaga
