From the deep blue sea to the breathtaking scenery at the Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort, the Tagum Cooperative held its 6th Annual Leadership Summit on February 17, 2024. The event, centered around the theme “Leading from Within: Nurturing Mental Health and Well-Being in Leadership,” brought together the cooperative’s board of directors, senior management, managers, supervisors, and staff.

Dir. Hermarie T. Esmael commenced the summit with her warm welcome remarks, followed by a special message from CEO Juris D. Perez. The first speaker, Ms. Toni Miranda, engaged the participants with an insightful discussion on “Mental Health and Well-being Leadership: Sustaining the Crew.” Drawing from her own experiences, she emphasized the need for leaders to be attuned to the signs of stress and burnout among their crew and provided practical strategies for creating a supportive and emphatic work culture.

Consequently, the day progressed with a team-building session led by the skilled facilitators from Happy J Training and Development, where the venue served to showcase their talents, loud cheers, and a series of engaging games that challenged and enhanced creativity, teamwork, and cooperation among members of each group.

As the sun dipped into the horizon, the stage was reset for Coach Russ Juson’s impassioned address on “Emotional Mastery in Leadership: The Heartbeat of Success,” where the depth of the discussion was evident as some participants openly shed tears, releasing the pent-up emotions and burdens they had been carrying. This vulnerability sparked a ripple effect, inspiring others to share their own struggles and triumphs, which leads to the power of acknowledging and addressing the emotional challenges inherent in leadership.Afterwards, the Tagum Cooperative 6th Annual Leadership Summit concluded on a positive note with closing remarks delivered by Dir. Janet T. Matuguinas, who emphasized the importance of elevating leadership skills and mental health and well-being among the employees.  Britney Ann B. Manayon
