TC Youth Laboratory Cooperative (TC YLC) was thrilled to have extended an invitation from Aflatoun International and the National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO) as part of distinguished partners and stakeholders in Youth Laboratory Cooperative. TC YLC actively participated in the Aflatoun International Asia Regional Meeting 2024, which was held at the Summit Galleria Cebu, Philippines, from June 24-28 2024.

Aflatoun International is a dynamic network of partner organizations that acknowledges the significance of providing children, particularly marginalized communities, with the social and financial skills necessary for thriving in today’s world. The pace of change in the world is accelerating, leading to increased complexity. It is just crucial, now more than ever, for children to acquire both social and financial skills to navigate and succeed in life.

The regional meeting was a combination of strategic planning discussions, capacity building, and sharing of best practices. It also included a one-day immersive field visit, that offered insights into NATCCO’s implementation of the Aflatoun program within public schools.

Attended by the Chairperson of the Board, Dir. Rosamaria S. Torrejano and other members of the Board, Dir. Gertrudes L. Yap, Dir. Nenita R. Malbas, Dir. Jose Alvic P. Suaybaguio, Dir. Vicente P. Binag, Dir. Josephine L. Fadul, and Dir. Ruel M. Dagsangan. Along with the Officers is the attendance of the Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Juris D. Perez, and the Youth Laboratory Officer, Ms. Nodelyn L. Sedeño.

There were special sessions with the government focusing on national integration, as well as sessions on various key topics such as fundraising and communication, digital learning and curriculum revision, curriculum development, resource mobilization, capacity building, and partnership development. Additionally, the plenary sessions covered important areas including climate change and social and financial education, Aflatoun strategic planning and regional updates, and further discussions on Aflatoun’s strategic planning. The five-day program featured a series of meetings, workshops, and interactive sessions aimed at sharing best practices, developing innovative strategies, and enhancing our collective impact. Through workshops, thematic sessions, regional updates, and networking opportunities, the meeting aimed to empower the next generation with essential skills for a sustainable and inclusive future by sharing best practices and innovative approaches.
