The Sister Society TC Chapter members convened once more on May 16, 2024, for the annual general membership meeting utilizing the convenience of modern technology through the Zoom platform.
For the past nine years, since May 2015, the Sister Society of Tagum Cooperative (TC) Chapter has been actively contributing to the betterment of its members and the community at large, leaving behind a legacy of cooperation and development.
The meeting commenced with a warm welcome from Ms. Janet T. Matuguinas, a distinguished figure within the Sister Society TC Chapter, having served as a former president. Setting an inspirational tone, Atty. Maria Lina F. Baura, renowned for her volunteer endeavors in the community, led a brief learning session on the “Spirit of Volunteerism.
Subsequently, the Chairperson of the GAD/GE Committee and an esteemed officer of the Sister Society TC Chapter Dir. Eduard C. Amoguis provided updates and reviewed the organization’s objectives and guidelines. Dir. Amoguis emphasized their roles as promoters of gender equality advocates for climate action, and champions of community development. He highlighted the significant contributions of the Sister Society of the Tagum Cooperative.
An integral part of the meeting was the election of a new set of officers for the year 2024-2025, believed to be fully equipped to uphold the responsibilities of the Sister Society. The newly elected officers included Dir. Eduard C. Amoguis as President, Ms. Fe J. Adlawan as Vice President, Dir. Gertrudes L. Yap as Secretary, Dir. Josephine L. Fadul as Assistant Secretary, Dir. Hermarie T. Esmael as Treasurer, and Ms. Miriam R. Baloyo as Auditor.
Additionally, a roster of Public Information Officers, Secretariat members, Legal Counsel, and Consultants was announced, each of whom will contribute their expertise to the mission of the Sister Society TC Chapter.
The meeting concluded with a closing message from the Vice Chairperson of the Board Dir. Gertrudes L. Yap, followed by a closing prayer led by GAD/GE Committee Secretary Mr. Mauricio M. Limbaga, Jr., signifying the end of a productive session filled with camaraderie and purpose. Sister Societies, as local chapters of the Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN), play a vital role in advancing the network’s global mission while creating tangible impacts at the local level. Open to individuals connected to cooperatives at any stage of their professional journey, the Sister Society program synergizes active participation and collaboration within the cooperative community, driving positive change and empowerment.
