The Model Cooperative Network (MCN) held its 19th Annual General Assembly on May 17-18, 2024, at the Sotogrande Hotel in Ma-a, Davao City. MCN Chairman Sofronio V. Talisic opened this year’s assembly with the theme “Raise the Standards,” which encapsulated the essence of the collective vision of Safe, Sound, and Sustainable Cooperatives for every Filipino.
Participating cooperatives included Tagum Cooperative (TC), represented by the Board of Directors led by Chairperson Dir. Rosamaria S. Torrejano and the Senior Management under the leadership of Ms. Juris D. Perez.
TC emerged triumphant, bagging two prestigious awards, the “Highest CETF Remitter” and the “Cooperator of the Year” awards.
TC also proudly announced that its own Chairperson, Dir. Torrejano was elected and proclaimed as a member of the MCN Board of Directors. This strengthens the representation of TC within MCN which brings about fresh perspectives to the board’s strategic planning and decision-making processes.
The assembly also served as an avenue to recognize and celebrate new cooperatives within the MCN community and new services brought by 1CoopHealth and 1CoopPay. During the final part of the assembly, MCN also showcased the blessing of its new building in Juna Subdivision, Matina, Davao City.
MCN reminds every member cooperative to “Raise the Standards,” a shared cooperative strategic mindset of cooperatives from all over the country dedicated to upholding and exceeding international prudential standards.
MCN is a federation of FOCCUS cooperatives and is dedicated to monitoring and examining the operations of the cooperatives to make sure that they achieve and maintain the International Prudential Standards required of Model Cooperatives. Yna Gracelle J. Amores
