In commemoration of National Women’s Month, Tagum Cooperative branches and satellite offices have come together to celebrate the invaluable contributions of women to society. Throughout the entire month of March, the cooperative has dedicated its efforts to highlighting the voices of women and empowering them to serve as role models within their communities.
This year, Tagum Cooperative organized a virtual celebration on March 16, 2024, that brought together approximately 500 TC Members via Zoom platform. The program commenced with a heartfelt welcome message from Director Nenita R. Malbas, Chairperson of the Board. Dir. The chairperson urged her fellow women to embody strength and courage in facing life’s challenges while emphasizing the importance of resilience. She also shed light on this year’s theme, “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas, Kakayahan ng Kababaihan Patunayan”.
The celebration featured a learning session on the Salient Points of the Magna Carta of Women and other gender and development-related laws, facilitated by expert speaker Atty. Angelisa Razo. Atty. Razo, a law professor and member of Tagum Cooperative, provided invaluable insights into gender equality laws and their significance in empowering women.
One of the event’s highlights was the showcase of talents from women TC members, featuring the top entries of the Awit ng Kababaihan Online Singing Contest. Participants from three (3) TC branches – Koronadal, Main Office, and Surigao – captivated audiences with their performances. The audience also had the opportunity to vote for their favorite entry, with Ms. Mary Cris Lastra from TC Surigao got the first place.
Adding to the inspirational atmosphere, GAD/GE Committee Chairperson Dir. Monica L. Salido delivered a special message, encouraging both women and men to embody strength and kindness in dealing with others.
Branches across Tagum Cooperative actively participated in the celebration through live streaming on their television screens and vibrant booth displays. The collective efforts of Tagum Cooperative branches and satellite offices in honoring National Women’s Month emphasize the organization’s commitment to gender equality and empowerment, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable society.
