The cooperative movement has long been recognized as an essential vehicle for economic empowerment and community development. In this regard, Tagum Cooperative has emerged as a successful and highly respected organization that has achieved significant growth and impact in the community.

Evidence of Tagum Cooperative’s commitment to extending hospitality to other cooperatives can be seen in its initiative to host Cooperative Visitation or Lakbay Aral. Given that cooperatives operate within a unique economic model that prioritizes member welfare and community development, regular engagement with other cooperatives becomes essential for sharing best practices, addressing challenges, and fostering innovative solutions.

At the onset of the year, the Baguio-Benguet Community Credit Cooperative embarked on its Lakbay Aral journey on January 13, 2024. Leading the delegation was their Chairperson, Ms. Mary Ann B. Bungag. Following suit, another delegation from the Isabela State University Multi-Purpose Cooperative visited Tagum Cooperative on March 15, 2024, under the guidance of their Chairperson, Engr. Edmundo A. Obiña.

This convergence served as more than just a meeting of minds; it was an exploration of cooperative transmutation, where the fusion of knowledge and camaraderie activated a radical experience. Through such exchanges, cooperatives can effectively advocate for their interests and promote the values of equality and solidarity within their communities.Ultimately, cooperative visitation not only strengthens individual cooperatives but also contributes to the growth and development of the cooperative movement as a whole. It is through such collaborative efforts that cooperatives can continue to thrive and make a positive impact on society. Britney Ann B. Manayon
