Flagged as “Lakbay-Aral,” a coop visit is a way to share best practices among cooperatives in the country seeking to acquire new learning methodologies from various cooperatives and provide the chance to develop improved services for members.
Amid the challenges posed by the global pandemic, this opportunity emerged unfortunate as all forms of travel and activities were temporarily halted in strict adherence to safety protocols.
Providentially, during the Special Board Meeting held in June of this year, a resolution was reached to approve the proposed changes in the Precautionary Measures against COVID-19 set forth by the management. As a result, there was a commendation for welcoming face-to-face Cooperative Visits to both the home and central offices of Tagum Cooperative.
Cooperatives are long considered as institutions of mutual help, and sharing this sense promotes social justice and economic development. For this cause, the 6th cooperative principle, “Cooperation among Cooperatives” is duly acknowledged and observed by cooperatives as we all work together for a common purpose.
Hailing from the beautiful province where mountains embrace the sea on the western shores of Panay Island, Antique, the San Jose Multipurpose Cooperative paid us a visit on July 7, 2023. Leading the delegation was their Chairperson of the Board, Ms. Merlinda E. Alvior, accompanied by their key management personnel.
Additionally, we had the pleasure of hosting another cooperative visit on August 9, 2023, from the Culinary Capital of the Philippines, Province of Pampanga, the Angeles City Cooperative Development Council. Leading the delegation was the Chairperson of the Council, Ms. Carmela S. Dizon.
Both Coop Visits were attended by our Board of Directors, Senior Management, and selected management teams. The guests were given comprehensive tours of TC facilities, giving them insights into the mechanisms of the operation. The visits also featured a lively exchange of information and an open forum as part of the brief program.
In the words of Kapampangan, “Dakal a salamat sa pagsalig!” extends far beyond TC’s profound gratitude and privilege in being selected as one of the destinations for the Lakbay Aral 2023 program by these cooperatives. It is indeed a manifestation that Tagum Cooperative has created a name in the domain of Cooperatives, which continues to show our commitment to our mission and vision as a thriving cooperative.
