The National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO) made a resounding success on April 03-05, 2024 for the annual general assembly which took place at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang, Davao City staging this year’s theme “Building Trust, Climate Resilience, and Sustainable Future: Happy Members of Secured Co-ops in an Integrated Network”

The NATCCO Network is a federation of cooperative members in the entire Philippines with the common goal of unifying all cooperatives through its long-time aspiration of becoming an integrated network.

Tagum Cooperative (TC) as one of the prominent members of the federation actively participated in the three-day assembly and victoriously stood out by bagging multiple awards. These accolades included the 2023 ACCESS Branded Cooperative, 2023 Top Training Patrons, 2023 Top Depositors Based on Year-End Balances, and Net Institutional Capital Achievement Excellence Award.

This year’s NATCCO General Assembly emphasized the role of cooperative endeavors such as climate action, financial standards, and improving quality of life as potent mechanisms for member satisfaction and a sustainable, integrated network.

Among those notable sessions of the assembly was the plenary session of the Vice Chairperson and Executive Director of the Climate Change Commission Sec. Robert E.A. Borje who emphasized the vital role of cooperatives in climate action. He said, “Cooperatives are in the best position to effect Climate Action because you have the infrastructure, you have human resources, you have financial resources, you have the location, and the network”. “Climate Change was done by people. It can be undone by people. Climate Action is not the sole responsibility of the Government. It is everyone’s responsibility”, he added.

TC Chief Executive Office Juris D. Perez was also invited for her special attention and expertise as the only cooperative in the entire Philippines to be awarded with international Gold ACCESS branding. She contributed insightful ideas during the plenary session on Building Trust on Members by Adhering to Financial Standards. This year, the National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO) has announced its newly elected board of directors, proudly featuring Tagum Cooperative, Board Member Dir.  Nenita R. Malbas has successfully sat and secured a coveted spot on NATCCO’s board. This achievement showcases the leadership and dedication of Tagum Cooperative officers bring to the cooperative movement, reflecting the growing influence and recognition of Tagum Cooperative within the national cooperative network.
