November 8, 2017 (Wednesday) – Local Government Officials, Financial Institutions, Partners, Residents and Cooperative Leaders gather to witness the Grand Opening of the fully-operational Tagum Cooperative Satellite Office strategically located in Redulla Building, Mati City.

The merriment commenced with a Motorcade along the major thoroughfares in the city immediately followed with the blessing and inauguration of the TC office and service vehicle officiated by Rev. Fr. Medardo A. Salomia, RCM.

In her opening remarks, TC Chairperson Fe J. Adlawan spoke in native Mandaya dialect as a sign of respect and appreciation for the warm welcome received by Tagum Cooperative. She also relayed the importance of working together to create a strong and fruitful relationship between the City of Mati and Tagum Cooperative. She mentioned that in relation to the Festival of Mati City called the Sambuokan (which derives from the word “buok” meaning one), that there is unity amid the diversity and that unity is also one of the core values of Tagum Cooperative.

Vice Mayor Glenda Rabat-Gayta emphasized the importance of attitude in attaining success and she further noted the positive energy from Tagum Cooperative officials and employees which is contagious. Vice-Mayor Gayta also expressed that Tagum Cooperative’s presence in Mati denotes that the City is indeed prospering.

Mr. Francisco Villamor, Satellite Office Head, expressed his gratitude to the TC Management for believing in him and he is willing to take on the challenge by promising that he will deliver what is due for Tagum Cooperative.

Also present during the event were Executive Assistant Ms. Tanya Virginia Rabat –Tan (representing Hon. Mayor Carlo Luis P. Rabat); Mr. Lorenzo E. Mendoza, Schools Division Superintendent of Davao Oriental; TC Board of Directors and Committee Officers; TC Branch Managers; barangay officials; representatives from depository banks.

The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) required a total of 300 members for a Cooperative to be allowed to erect a satellite office or a branch. As of the Inauguration, there are 332 existing members of Tagum Cooperative in Mati signifying that TC is able to comply with the requirements of CDA for the Coop to put a satellite branch in Mati.

“Our goal is to open 20 branches in 2020,” states Ms. Juris D. Perez, TC Chief Executive Officer. Tagum Cooperative follows a stringent feasibility study before putting up a branch / satellite office to ensure viability and sustainability for the benefit of its members. Mati Satellite Office is the 13th branch of Tagum Cooperative serving over 80,000 members from the different provinces in Region X, XI, XII.
