The Division of Davao Del Norte received ₱100,000 in cash from Tagum Cooperative during the Brigada Eskwela Kick Off last August 05, 2022 at Sto. Tomas National High School.
Brigada Eskwela is implemented to prepare public school facilities and strengthen the spirit of volunteerism among Filipinos while solidifying the true essence of camaraderie and unity through the opening of classes. Community service and stakeholder’s participation were the major highlights during the event.
In the opening statement, the school principal of Sto. Tomas National High School Ricardo M. Olmedo Jr. expressed his honor to be the host of the Brigada Eskwela. “This is a very momentous event because this is the first time that we are hosting the kick off”, he said. The school principal proudly acknowledged and welcomed the participants from different organizations.
In addition, the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Rebecca C. Sagot, CESO VI delivered her words of challenge saying, “Truly, it takes a village to educate a child and the education of our children is everyone’s concern”. According to the assistant superintendent, the implementation of the Brigada Eskwela puts premium on the spirit of volunteerism. She said that every donated material is a lot of volunteer time and a labor of love, all of which forms a learned, wholesome, and well-prepared learning community for the students. Additionally, she emphasized the positive results in collaboration for a common good. “Team together each achieves more”, she said.
Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Panglalawigan Member and the Chairperson on Education Committee Hon. Shirley Belen R. Aala reset the mood of the audience through her amusing and engaging speech. The eighty-three year old chairperson challenged everyone to work diligently and raise children well-rounded enough to improve the economic situation. Hon. Aala is proud to be speaking on behalf of the Vice Governor of Davao Del Norte Hon. De Carlo l. Uy who donated coloring materials in her presence.
