First Million in Net Savings in 1988, First Billion in assets in 2010 and First to conduct a Virtual Annual Representative Assembly among all primary cooperatives in the country – this is the Tagum Cooperative Legacy.
March 28, 2021 marks a new milestone for the home-grown cooperative as District Representatives from the 12 Business Centers gather to virtually participate in the 3rd Annual Representative Assembly and 53rd Annual Meeting.
The momentous event commenced with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 10 o’clock in the morning aired via Facebook premier. Afterwards, more than 800 members wearing blue green integration shirts flocked the virtual conference hall with their big smiles and cheerful greetings for other cooperators.
Program proper kicked-off at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon as BOD Vice-Chairperson Noel O. Quidilla welcomed the members quoting “Our world today is not the same as we used to know, many things have changed. This pandemic has denied us so many important events that we planned even before the start of 2020. But even though we missed our in-person meetings, we are nevertheless determined to forge ahead with this virtual platform.”
BOD Chairperson Rosalina S. Argent then gave her Chairperson’s Message stressing that “Despite uncertain economic times, it is still pleasing to report another good year of performance from Tagum Cooperative.” She then challenged the members to continuously support and patronize the quality products and services that everyone deserves of.
Ms. Juris D. Perez, Chief Executive Officer, proudly presented the Operational Highlights for 2020 emphasizing that there may be some unfavorable variances in the financial aspects, but Tagum Cooperative was still able to realize a P655 Million Net Surplus with P9.16 Billion Assets and P6.14 Billion Loan Portfolio. This accomplishment is brought about by the hardwork and dedication of all Cooperative Officials, Management and Employees, with the continued patronage of the members.
Video clips on the Virtual Awarding Ceremony held earlier (March 23) was showcased during the assembly where utmost recognitions were given Model Members, Offices and Employees for their contribution in achieving the strategic goals of the cooperative. Significant personalities from the different national and international affiliations of Tagum Cooperative also sent their recorded video message with greetings and congratulations to Tagum Cooperative.
Business Assembly Proper started at 2 in the afternoon where District Representatives were given the opportunity to take part in the deliberation and raise motions for approval of the following documents and reports for 2019 and 2020: Minutes of the 2nd Annual Representative Assembly, Election Committee, BOD and Management, Audit Committee, Conciliation-Mediation Committee, Ethics Committee, Education Committee, Gender Equality Committee, Youth Development and Succession Program Committee, Proposed Joint Officials’ Recommendations, External Auditor’s Report, CY 2020 and 2021 Budget Presentation and approval of the Tagum Cooperative External Auditor’s for 2021.
Highlights for the meeting include the most awaited declaration of Interest on Share Capital (10.25%) and Patronage Refund (12.10%) which is slated to be released in the early days of April 2021. District Representatives (DRs) who casted their votes automatically received their allowances through credit in their ATM or regular savings accounts. 200 lucky DRs also won the electronic raffle bringing P500 pesos each to their respective accounts.
The newly elected Officials of Tagum Cooperative is set to convene for the virtual Oathtaking and Turn-over Ceremony to be held on March 31, 2021. On the other hand, CEO Juris D. Perez also shared that cooperatives from all over the country looks forward to Tagum Cooperative as a pioneer in the virtual platform and hopes to share the secrets in successfully implementing a virtual assembly. This proves that Tagum Cooperative is indeed a trendsetter, not only in the financial field but as well as for virtual stages.
