Just two days after the seminar, another set of 40 TC youth leaders, led by the TC Laboratory Cooperative Board of Directors, underwent a whole day Gender Sensitivity Training (GST).
With Tagum Coop’s continuing effort to educate and train its members, TC youth savers engaged into various trainings which equipped them with cooperative skills and values.
Some 50 school-based savers participated in the Cooperative Leadership Concept and Public Speaking Seminar on August 25 at TC Function Hall.
Board of Directors member Miriam Baloyo facilitated the Leadership Concept teaching them on the basics of leadership and how to become an effective leader in the organization particularly in Tagum Coop.
In one of the group activities, participants solved a puzzle with cut pictures of well-known leaders today including President Rodrigo Duterte.
As Director Baloyo asked what they can say about the President, a high school student Maxi proudly said she saw a picture of hope as “he (Duterte) protects the Filipinos”.
Meanwhile, Director Nenita Malbas led the session on Public Speaking which taught participants to communicate their thoughts publicly with confidence.
The training was facilitated by no less than the powerhouse of Gender Equality (GE) Advocate officers led by Chairperson Monica Salido together with MASS-SPECC Chairperson Evelia Sator, MCN Chairperson Fe Adlawan, Directors Miriam Baloyo and Eduard Amoguis, and General Manager Juris Perez.
The GST sought to deepen the youth’s understanding on Tagum Coop’s GE journey including the role of women and men as demonstrated through role playing, reporting, and a lot more.
According to the Youth Program Coordinator Ms. Jenalyn Rivera, the learning sessions are intended to empower young cooperators as part of Tagum Coop’s Succession Planning, since “they (youth) will lead Tagum Coop in the next generation”.
She also laid down several activities for the youth this year including the recently conducted Hataw sa Saya Ngayong Balik Eskwela in July and August which provided avenue to develop youth’s potential.
TC Youth Laboratory Cooperative, under the Guardianship of Tagum Coop, now has more than 50,000 members with more than Php 70 Million cumulative savings deposits from across 11 branches. (Tagum Cooperative)
