The Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) conferred the A-one Competitive Choice for Excellence in Service and Soundness (ACCESS) Silver Brand to Tagum Coop (TC) on September 9 in Incheon, South Korea.

This was awarded during the Asian Credit Union Forum themed as “Shaping our Future – Connect, Collaborate, Differentiate” at the Songdo Convention where some 770 cooperators from 23 countries around the world gathered.

Tagum Coop Chairperson Monica L. Salido and General Manager Juris D. Perez received the ACCESS Silver Certificate which cites excellence in four core perspectives: Learning and Growth, Internal Business Process, Customer-member, and Financial.

Developed by ACCU, the ACCESS is a quality assurance tool with preset 86 indicators of excellence guided by the said four perspectives.

Tagum Coop first achieved the ACCESS Bronze in 2014, levelled up to Silver in 2015, and renewed the Silver this year (2016).

ACCU rebranded TC after the validation conducted by four auditors from July 18 to 20 showed TC achieving 76 % required rating for the Silver Category.

The validators carefully examined TC’s systems, procedures, operations, and other areas through the three-day visit across some branches.

In a break-out session during the forum, GM Perez presented to fellow cooperators Tagum Coop’s Journey to ACCESS Silver highlighting the challenges and best practices.

“Tagum Coop believes that to be ACCESS branded is one vehicle [to move] for another 50 years in the industry (cooperatives).” Perez said.

Before the ACCU Forum, GM Perez also attended a pre-forum workshop intended for CEOs, Human Resources Officers, the Youth, and Women sectors.

TC Vice-Chairperson Fe Adlawan, Directors Evelia Sator and Miriam Baloyo along with Treasurer Rosalina Argent also took part in the occasion.

Meanwhile, the Philippine delegates to the forum warmly congratulated Tagum Coop as well as ACCU CEO Elenita V. San Roque.

After the feat, Tagum Coop now eyes for ACCESS Gold Certificate in 2017 in time for its 50th Golden Anniversary. (Tagum Cooperative)
