Fresh from its series of webinars on Financial Literacy, Tagum Cooperative has now embarked on training its future leaders – the District Representatives. This is anchored on the fact that cooperatives are composed of owner-members who must understand the fundamentals of cooperatives with its governance and management system.
Training topics include Fundamentals of Cooperatives and Cooperative Management and Governance, which are part of the mandatory trainings for Cooperative Officials as stipulated in Republic Act 9520. These trainings are conducted in partnership with the Model Cooperative Network (MCN).
Fundamentals of Cooperatives discusses on the history of the cooperative movement and its evolution on how it has become today. Training was held on September 2-4, 2020 with 117 District Representatives coming from the different Branches and Satellite Offices. Resource Speaker was Mr. Jerson Remo, CPA, MBA.
The second training was focused on Cooperative Management and Governance which was held on September 16-18, 2020. 110 participants have attended with Dir. Evelia R. Sator, Ed.D. as Resource Speaker. This training has taught participants on the cooperative structure and the different roles and responsibilities of the Board of Directors, Management and the
different Committees in the Cooperative.
Participants have expressed their overwhelming gratitude to Tagum Cooperative for providing said trainings which encourages them to become more responsible members of the cooperative movement.
District Representatives are identified as future leaders of Tagum Cooperative who will undergo intensive training, mentoring, coaching and organizational exposure to hone their skills and talents for future leadership.
Continuing training for Members, Officers and Employees are sourced out from the Cooperative Education and Training Fund (CETF), which is annually funded from the provisions of the Net Surplus.
