Saving and Parenting come hand in hand as Tagum Cooperative Youth Laboratory Cooperative takes pride in a series of Financial Literacy training especially designed for parents of youth members. The trainings are done through the online (webinars), which aims to strengthen parenting skills; develop the habit of saving of young cooperators; and identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities in implementing the Savings Program for the parents.

The first session was conducted on February 23, 2021 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon, participated by some 54 parents via Zoom Conference. Resource speakers and Facilitators include Dir. Rosalina S. Argent, MBA; Dir. Eduard C. Amoguis, Ed.D; Mr. Ruel S. Dagsangan; Dir. Monica L. Salido; and former TC Chairperson, Ms. Norma R. Pereyras. More of the same Webinar on Financial Literacy will be conducted on March and April 2021.

TC Chairperson Dir. Rosalina S. Argent, one of the strongest advocates of Financial Literacy Program reiterated the importance of allocating money for savings to be used for future purposes. She adds that saving money is especially useful for parents in cases when they need to use the money for emergencies. This method will also set as an example for the children on how they will be able to handle their finances even at a young age. “If the parent is financial literate, it is easy for them to teach their children how to manage their income and allowances through budgeting.” Dir. Argent states.

TC Youth Laboratory is accepting youth members for only P150 initial membership fee. Meanwhile, youth members reaching 18 years old are highly encouraged to convert to regular membership to be entitled to more benefits from Tagum Cooperative. For more details, Tagum Cooperative Business Centers across Mindanao have dedicated personnel to entertain queries related to youth and regular memberships.
