Under the inspiring theme of ‘CO-Operating for Inclusive Growth and Community Resilience,’ the General Assembly of MASS-SPECC Cooperative Development Center General Assembly, took place from May 28 to 30, 2024 gathered cooperative members from various regions for a series of impactful and engaging sessions and activities.
The three-day began with a Manager’s Congress at the Mallberry Suites Business Hotel, Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City. Managers from different cooperatives participated in this event, which featured a learning session on Business Ethics and Governance for Managers in the Cooperative sector, led by Dr. Jesus P. Estanislao, Founder and Chairperson Emeritus of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
A significant highlight of the CO-OPvention was the awards ceremony, where cooperatives were recognized for their outstanding achievements. Tagum Cooperative received three prestigious awards namely, Top Performing ATM Sites for the highest number of SWITCH and ON-US transactions, One of the Top 5 Outstanding Co-op Time Depositors of MASS-SPECC for their significant contribution to the federation’s growth, and a Plaque of Appreciation for their exemplary performance, earning the 2023 A-One Competitive Choice for Excellence in Service and Soundness (ACCESS) Gold Category Award by the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU).
The event culminated in the assembly, during which business proceedings were conducted, officials were elected, and resolutions were approved. These sessions emphasized the strategic importance of digital technology in enhancing financial services for cooperative members, particularly those at the grassroots level, thereby promoting greater inclusivity and accessibility.
