In a landmark event that brought together leaders and representatives from cooperative movements across the Asia-Pacific region, the 16th Regional Assembly of the International Cooperative Alliance – Asia & Pacific (ICA-AP) took place from November 6th to 10th, 2023, in the vibrant city of Manila, the Philippines. The assembly was graciously hosted by the Philippines Cooperative Affiliates (PCA) and was attended by key figures from the cooperative sector.
The distinguished attendees from Tagum Cooperative included Chairperson Dir. Nenita R. Malbas, Dir. Monica L. Salido, Dir. Eduard C. Amoguis, Dir. Noel O. Quidilla, Dir. Jose Alvic P. Suaybaguio, Dir. Vicente P. Binag, Dir. Janet T. Matuguinas, Dir. Gertrudes L. Yap, and CEO Juris D. Perez. This assembly brought together a diverse group of individuals with a shared commitment to advancing the cooperative movement in the region.
The Regional Assembly featured a comprehensive program, including the Asia-Pacific Cooperative Forum, the Regional Board Meeting, various events organized by regional sectoral and thematic committees, and the statutory meeting of the Regional Assembly. These components served as crucial platforms for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and decision-making, reflecting the cooperative spirit that underpins the ICA-AP’s mission.
The overarching theme of the 11th Cooperative Forum was “Cooperatives: Our Common Agenda.” This theme resonated throughout the discussions and deliberations, highlighting the importance of unity and shared goals within the cooperative community. Participants engaged in thoughtful conversations aimed at identifying key opportunities and challenges faced by cooperatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
