November 25, 2020 – COOP NATCCO Party-list, the true party-list of all Cooperatives in thePhilippines, extends help to the indigent families of Talaingod, Davao del Norte. The activity isdubbed as Tabang sa Pamilyang Pilipino Panahon sa (COVID-19) Pandem-N’ya which isimplemented in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Local Government Unit (LGU) of Talaingod and Tagum Cooperative.
Over 300 families from Barangays Dagohoy, Palma Gil and Sto. Tomas receive P1,000 cash assistance. Qualified recipients proceeded to their respective barangay halls, wearing their facemasks, shields and other protective equipment. Other health protocols such as physical distancing was also observed.
In his message, COOP NATCCO Davao del Norte and Region XI Chapter President and current member of the Board of Directors of Tagum Cooperative, Dir. ANTONIO C. ARAÑAS, mentioned that the Party-list has an available P330,000.00 budget which was intendedly disbursed to the needy families of Talaingod. He quoted, “Instead of giving food packs, we opted to give you the money so that you may be able to buy specifically the things you need, such as rice and other basic necessities for your families. This simple assistance may cushion the adverse impact brought about by the Covid-19 Pandemic.”
In response, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer of Talaingod Ms. ARLANE L. BATUA, advised the family recipients to spend blessings wisely so the amount given to them will go a long way. “May we also be thankful that in the middle of the pandemic, community-centered organizations are able to extend their help.” Ms. Batua adds.
Thirty-one-year-old Mr. NIVENREY C. SIMBAYA, one of the recipients, showed his sincere gratitude for the help while clutching his ₱1,000. “I have an eleven-year-old kid, and this will greatly help us get through this tough time. We could buy rice and groceries enough for a number of days with the money given by Coop NATCCO through the help of DSWD and Tagum Coop. In behalf of my family, thank you very much.”
COOP NATCCO Party-list is represented by Hon. Cong. SABINIANO “BEN” S. CANAMA while Tagum Cooperative is the provincial headquarters of COOP NATCCOO Party-list in Davao del Norte.
Earlier this month, the entire cooperatives in the Philippines, through the CNPL has pooled and donated their resources as showing of support to the Philippine Government in the midst of pandemic. Tagum Cooperative has donated P500,000.00 for the aforementioned cause.
