Approximately one thousand and eight hundred (1,800) members from all Tagum Cooperative (TC) branches and satellite offices participated in the 2 batches of Gender Sensitivity and Family Enrichment Training held on May 21 and June 4, 2024, via Zoom video conference.

The 4-hour online Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) covered a wide range of topics, including the basic concepts of gender, the Tagum Coop GAD (Gender and Development) journey, updates on gender equality in the Philippines and worldwide, gender issues in households, workplaces, and communities, and family enrichment topics such as family relationships and budgeting.

Spearheaded by the GAD/GE Committee, chaired by Dir. Eduard C. Amoguis, the GST was led by the GAD/GE Trainers who served as resource speakers. The experts for these batches included Ms. Admarie D. Marcelo, Dir. Eduard C. Amoguis, Dir. Josephine L. Fadul; and Dr. Evelia R. Sator. These knowledgeable trainers shared their expertise and insights with TC members.

The primary aim of the training was to raise awareness and sensitivity to GAD principles among TC members, creating positive impacts on their personal and family lives. By addressing gender issues and promoting family enrichment, the training sought to empower members to create more inclusive and supportive environments within their homes and communities.

The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the relevance and importance of the topics discussed. Many members expressed their appreciation for the practical knowledge and skills they gained, which they could apply to improve their family dynamics and promote gender equality in their everyday lives.

This initiative is Tagum Cooperative’s commitment to holistic development and its dedication to the well-being of its members. Through continuous education and capacity-building efforts like the GST, the cooperative aims to nurture a more equitable and harmonious community. Leslie S. Canuto
