In a remarkable stride towards promoting gender equality and empowerment, Tagum Cooperative proudly unveils its enhanced Gender and Development (GAD) Policy. This initiative highlights the cooperative’s strong dedication to championing equality and improving the quality of life for its members.

Under the leadership of a dedicated team spearheaded by GAD/GE Committee Chairperson Dir. Monica L. Salido and Vice Chairperson Dir. Eduard C. Amoguis, and Sec. Flordeliza L. Alegarbes, alongside the collaborative efforts of management led by CEO Juris D. Perez, and the support of the Office of Quality Management Department, the policy underwent a comprehensive review and refinement process.

Initially endorsed to the Board of Directors in 2011, the recent amendments to the policy, approved on January 11, 2024, signify a significant milestone in Tagum Cooperative’s ongoing journey towards achieving gender equality and empowerment.

The updated TC GAD Policy encompasses various chapters, including gender mainstreaming initiatives, acknowledgment of gender-sensitive facilities, establishment of partnerships, and integration of gender analysis tools sourced from the Cooperative Development Authority. A noteworthy addition to the policy is the introduction of a GAD Checklist aimed at enhancing the design and evaluation of cooperative Programs, Projects & Activities (PPAs).

To ensure comprehensive dissemination and understanding of the policy, Tagum Cooperative organized online orientation sessions conducted in three (3) batches on February 5, 6, and 12, 2024, with the active participation of nearly 600 officers, trainers, and employees.

The GAD/GE Committee remains purposeful in its commitment to the comprehensive implementation of gender mainstreaming within the cooperative. With a steadfast dedication to fostering an inclusive environment, the committee aims to conduct further educational sessions with the goal of deepening awareness and understanding of Gender Equality principles. By placing these fundamental principles firmly within the cooperative’s culture and operations, Tagum Cooperative continues to lead the charge towards a more equitable and progressive future.
