The Tagum Cooperative continually broadened its aim and held open arms launching a Youth Leadership Summit on January 28, 2023 at the Tagum City Historical and Cultural Center.
With the presence of the Board of Directors led by the Chairperson Dir. Janet T. Matuguinas, and the senior management led by the Chief Executive Officer Juris D. Perez together with TC youth members and parents.
The event provided a primary phase for youth to develop and empower with knowledge in savings discipline and leadership roles. The event was an eye-opener for youth members to hone their inner qualities of becoming leaders and practicing the habit of savings, all in the pursuit of bettering lives in the future.
“Tagum Cooperative does not only care for adult members,” Dir. Matuguinas emphasized in her welcome message. She also added that youth is the hope of the motherland and that Tagum Cooperative will continue to serve the youth advocacy for development, not only for the cooperative but for the community at large.
The leadership summit focused on the young ones widening their minds to new perspectives, generally toward financial literacy and savings. Additionally, Tagum Cooperative encouraged the youth to be better and look forward as future community members
As part of the summit, the Youth Laboratory Cooperative fulfilled their roles as they formed new savings products such as Kiddie Birthday, Kiddie Balik Eskwela, Graduation, and Moving Up Saving Enrichment savings. Youth Laboratory Cooperative molded the youth with their never-ending support and guidance to adapt savings to exceed life and be regular members. Aside from childhood, the activity contextualized that parents significantly influence their children to be bound to handle money and be grounded in values.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Youth Committee, Dir. Josephine Fadul is beyond grateful for returning to a face-to-face assembly, as it challenged everyone to conceptualize the digital modality throughout the pandemic. Moreover, she emphasized the role of youth in financial literacy leadership. Dir. Fadul speech out remarkable statements, one of which astounded the audience, “Being a leader is not a status of popularity, but it is about responsibility and accountability.”
Additionally, Dir. Eduard C. Amoguis believed that the youth sector is an asset to the community. He also shared his experience regarding his service and development of leadership in Tagum Cooperative. He expressed that the cooperative is an instrument to help the youth develop sound financial decisions and leadership skills through training, seminars, or summits.
Indeed, Tagum Cooperatives shaped the young runners’ psycho-social development drive more as responsible citizenship and intellectual capacity. This youthful population played an integral role in social innovation. And as a result, Tagum Cooperative instills to advocate inclusive growth and sustainable accomplishment, specifically to capacitate the cooperative youth laboratory, allowing them to navigate cohesive decisions for themselves, developing and molding young societal runners.
The program organized the topics: “Leading from your Strength Towards Responsive and Adaptive Leadership” and “Leading with Passion and Action.” Tagum Cooperative, aside from being known as an icon of trust and excellence in social and financial services. In truth, they serve an image of leadership with great responsibility and accountability.
