As we prepare for a new school year, it’s crucial to establish a positive and inclusive atmosphere from the very beginning. A back-to-school welcome salvo provides a valuable opportunity to energize students, build community spirit, and create a strong sense of belonging right from the start. This event is not just a formality; it plays a significant role in shaping the school environment for the months ahead.

The TC Youth Laboratory Cooperative (TCYLC) recognizes the importance of fortifying relationships and promoting inclusivity as the new school year begins. To achieve this, the TCYL conducted a welcome salvo that included appearances of our mascots at various schools. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the TC Youth Laboratory among students while simultaneously cultivating a lively and engaging atmosphere. The activities featured parlor games and Aflatoun Trivia sessions, which were held for 30 minutes following the flag ceremony, during lunch breaks, and before dismissal. These sessions took place from July 29 to August 7, 2024, across twenty nine (29) partner schools in Davao Del Norte and Davao City.

The primary goals of the welcome salvo are to create a sense of excitement, build strong relationships, and instill school spirit. A warm and enthusiastic welcome sets a positive tone for the school year, motivating students and generating anticipation for school activities. It also provides an opportunity for students, teachers, and staff to connect and build rapport, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment. Additionally, incorporating school traditions, chants, cheers, or mascots helps promote pride and unity, creating a sense of belonging and identity within the school community.

By incorporating these elements, the TC Youth Laboratory’s back-to-school welcome salvo created a positive and inclusive school culture. This initiative not only energizes students but also promotes a sense of pride, unity, and collaboration, setting the stage for a successful and enriching school year ahead. Cleve C. Ulalo
