In a bold step towards sustainability and environmental stewardship, Tagum  Cooperative  has set its sights on a transformative project that promises  to benefit not just its members but the entire community of Tagum City. The much-anticipated AgriEco Tourism Hub, a vision deeply rooted in the Cooperative’s commitment to both community development and environmental care, is one step closer to becoming a reality.

This visionary project aims to create an eco-friendly park that serves as both a recreational space and a learning site for agriculture, combining nature with hands-on education. As the dream inches toward reality, Tagum Cooperative made  significant progress with the blessing and inauguration of a container van administrative building on August 6, 2024, at Prk. Malinawon, La Filipina, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

The newly blessed structure, comprising four rooms, is set to be the hub’s administrative office, serving as the foundation for what is expected to be a game-changer in sustainable agricultural education in the region.

During the ceremony, Chairperson of the Board, Dir. Rosamaria S. Torrejano, expressed her excitement: “We have long been waiting for the realization of our vision of having our own learning site for agriculture, and now this building would symbolize a concrete and solid foundation that we will achieve that long dream.”

This historic moment was graced by the presence of esteemed members of the Board of Directors, including Vice Chairperson Gertrudes L. Yap, Dir. Nenita R. Malbas, Dir. Jose Alvic P. Suaybaguio, and Mr. Daniel S. Aguinaldo. Alongside them were key figures from the Senior Management team: Chief Finance Officer Sherwin Gabriel C. Petalino, Chief Administrative Officer Jovecio I. Rubilla, and Ms. Vivelyn D. Fronteras.

With the support of its leaders and the dedication of the cooperative’s members, the AgriEco Tourism Hub promises to provide a holistic learning experience, blending sustainable farming techniques with eco-friendly practices, while also fostering a deeper connection between the community and the environment. This project is not just a dream for Tagum Cooperative but a symbol of hope and progress for Tagum City and beyond.

As the administrative building takes shape, the community can eagerly anticipate the opening of the full AgriEco Hub in the near future, where agriculture, sustainability, and community growth come together under one roof. Indeed, the future looks green and bright for Tagum Cooperative’s latest initiative. Angenel Clariz D. Rufon
