Tagum City-based Tagum Cooperative rolled out its Mass Blood Donation Program in Davao City on August 27 at TC Matina Branch Function Hall.

In partnership with the Davao Blood Center (DBC) led by Dr. Rachel Louise V. Nisperos, the blood-letting activity invited several Davao City donors, members and non-members, including the 44-year-old Ms. Mibodasi Solamo.

“Donating blood can help others in need especially in times of illness” Ms. Solamo, a TC Matina Branch member who was one of the donors in the blood-letting activity, shared.

When asked what urged her to donate blood, Ms.  Solamo said that she started donating when her nephew was diagnosed with dengue emphasizing how hard it was to look for blood. From then on, she regularly donates blood.

Aside from that, she also revealed the benefits of donating blood to her health as it invigorates her and makes her young.

“[Donating blood] recharges my blood circulation and it makes me young and beautiful” she proudly said.

As a neighbor, she noted a sense of fulfilment whenever someone asked from her to waive blood she donated at Davao Blood Center.

The same fulfilment goes to Ms. Charity Espaῆol who recounted how hard it was to look for blood during her relative’s hospitalization since they do not have any blood deposited.

Ms. Solamo and Espaῆol were just two of the 29 successful blood donors who went early and participated in the annual advocacy of the Cooperative.

The Davao Blood Center team, as partner of Tagum Coop, led the actual screening and donation of the blood of the participants.

The program was the third of the four rounds set this year after similar activities were done at the Nabunturan Branch and Tagum Main Office on February 24 and May 7 respectively.

It was also the second time that TC Matina Branch hosted the Tagum Coop blood-letting after the successful conduct in 2015.

Tagum Coop and the Sisters Society, a chapter of Global Women’s Leadership Network, Chairperson Monica L. Salido and Treasurer Rosalina S. Argent both came to support the program.

The final leg of the Mass Blood Donation Program will be on October 1 at Tagum Coop Gymnasium, Main Office, Tagum City. (Tagum Cooperative)
