Tagum Coop officials and employees went side by side, hand in hand during the series of relief operations provided to 7 barangays or a total of 3,000 residents of Davao del Norte.
As part of TC’s Social Responsibility, the Cooperative reached out to the flood victims from Canocotan and Pagsabangan, Tagum City; Barangays Salvacion, Tuganay and Mabaus in Carmen, Davao del Norte and Upper and Lower Cabaywa in Asuncion Davao del Norte through giving away of boiled eggs and porridge as well as tanks of potable water to ease the thirst and hunger of their fellow kababayans.
The unceasing rain caused by the tail-end of the cold front sent thousands of residents packing and seeking shelter in assigned evacuation centers or roadsides just to avoid their flooded homes. Tagum Cooperative through its Community Development Program was quick to respond to the call of the Provincial Government and went to identified areas to deliver help to the victims of the floods. Headed by the Board of Directors and Officers the team visited the barangays of Mesaoy in New Corella, Davao del Norte and Canocotan in Tagum City for the first day of the operation bringing hot porridge, boiled eggs and tanks of potable water.The second day of Tagum Cooperative’s relief efforts brought the team to Barangay Tuganay and Barangay Mabaus in Carmen, Davao del Norte.
The team brought food and water as well as grocery packs containing ready-to-eat food and sanitary items to provide for the victims’ immediate needs. The rain didn’t stop Tagum Cooperative Officers and Employees as the third day of the Relief Efforts were brought to the flooded areas of Barangay Salvacion, Carmen davao del Norte, Upper and Lower Cabaywa in Asuncion, Davao del Norte and Pagsabangan, Tagum City.
TC Chief Executive Officer Juris D. Perez initiated the bringing of relief goods to the flooded barangays. “The water has already reached their waist which means they are the ones who needed our help the most, we need to reach this area to somehow provide for their basic needs because it will be difficult for them to have access outside of their barangay,” CEO Perez said. Needless to say, the residents were elated and repeatedly pronounced their deepest thanks to Tagum Cooperative while they received the relief goods while some of them posted their thanks on social media.
