Tagum Cooperative youth savers enjoy fun-filled and empowering learning activities and sessions during the first Summer Youth Camp held from May 24 to 25, 2016 at the Energy Park, Apokon, Tagum City.
Some 200 youths, with age ranging from 13 to 17 years old, joined the mass gathering of mixed young savers enrolled in the following programs: Aflatoun and TC Youth Laboratory Coop (both school-based), Power Teens and Youth Savers.
Participants came from as far as Agusan del Sur as all youth members in different branches of the Cooperative are invited to take part in the activity.
Lectures on Comics Making, True Love Waits, and Good Grooming and Proper Hygiene were dicussed on the first day of the summer camp.
Ms. Maria Cecilia Abis, a renowned national book writer and author, was the speaker in Comics wherein she shared samples of the comics she made for cooperatives and for gender equality. Ms. Abis is also the writer of the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Book of Tagum Cooperative which was currently on drafting period.
Director Miriam R. Baloyo facilitated the True Love Waits seminar which reminds the youth not to hurry in love, while Director Evelia R. Sator dicussed the Good Grooming and Proper Hygiene Seminar.
Savings and Credit Group (SCG) Manager Vivelyn D. Fronteras also shared the latest financial highlights of Tagum Cooperative which included the Php 74.19 Million total savings and 54, 468 youth members as of March 2016.
Participants went on for a solidarity night which highlighted a “Search for Mr. & Ms. Eco-Youth” with the contestants wearing creative and recycled attires from nature.
On the second day, they enjoyed the “Amazing Race” and other parlor games and “Larong Pinoy” which developed their cooperation and team building skills. (Tagum Cooperative)
