Broomsticks, cement, lumber, nails, pails, paints, rugs and shirts were received by the soliciting and partner schools of Tagum Cooperative in support of the Department of Education’s National Schools Maintenance Week dubbed as Brigada Eskwela 2018.

May 28, 2018 – as a sign of the strong partnership between DepEd and Tagum Coop, the latter has actively participated in the Kick-Off Ceremony of various Divisions wherein the latter’s branches operate. During the opening program, Mr. Anwar E. Maadel, MPA, Tagum City Brigada Eskwela Coordinator, highlighted that Brigada Eskwela is one of the two programs where the stakeholders are involved. Stakeholders include Tagum Cooperative and other non-government institutions who are committed to provide a better future for school children.

In the afternoon, Tagum Cooperative Main Office has invited its recipient and youth partner schools from Davao del Norte, Tagum City and Compostella Valley for a Ceremonial Turn-Over of Donation Items. Fifty (50) public elementary and secondary schools expressed their thanksgiving for the donations received.

Mr. Eduard C. Amougis, Ed.D., TC BOD Chairperson and Chief CID of Davao del Norte, thanked everyone who attended the activity. He cited that Tagum Cooperative’s commitment is in line with the 7th Cooperative Principle: “Concern for the Community.” A portion of the annual Net Surplus is allocated for the community development fund (CDF) intended for various developmental initiatives benefitting the members and the community. More than half a million pesos’ worth of donation items has been distributed to all Tagum Coop Branches solely for Brigada Eskwela solications.

On the other hand, Ms. Josephine L. Fadul, Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) of Davao del Norte, emphasized in her Special Message the parent’s role as the first teacher of their children. Parents and teachers work hand in hand in providing quality education for the youth. Mr. Nelson C. Lopez, Ed.D., CESE VI was also present during the event.

The Brigada Eskwela 2018 is themed as “Pagkakaisa para sa handa, ligtas at metatag na paaralan tungo sa magandang kinabukasan.”
