Tagum City, Davao del Norte — Tagum Cooperative marked its 57th Founding Anniversary with a vibrant weeklong celebration from October 8-12, 2024. Themed “Cooperatives in Building Sustainable and Resilient Communities,” the event showcased a dynamic mix of educational sessions, skills training, health services, and cultural activities.



The celebration opened on October 8 with a live learning session streamed via the TC Official Facebook Page from the TC Commercial Building. Esteemed resource speaker Dr. Evelia Sator, a member of the TC Lecturers’ Group and former Chairperson of the TC Board of Directors, shared insights on the cooperative’s role in fostering sustainability and resilience. Simultaneously, the FuneCare Department facilitated a skills training session on candle and flower arrangement at the TC Function Hall, equipping participants with creative and practical skills.
On October 9, members and non-members benefited from a skills training on remedial pain management organized by the Community Development Department. Coinciding with the celebration of Senior Citizens’ Day, around 300 senior members gathered at City Mall, Tagum City, for a lively program led by the Gender and Development/Gender Equality Committee through the Communications and Education Department.
The third day highlighted skills training in beauty care for selected members, spearheaded by the Community Development Committee through the Community Development Department. This hands-on session offered participants opportunities to learn and explore new ventures.


Healthcare took center stage on October 10 and 11 as around 150 members availed of free medical and dental consultations, along with fasting blood sugar (FBS) screening, courtesy of the Member Benefits and Assistance Department. A special mass held at the TC Function Hall brought together TC officers in thanksgiving and reflection.
The weeklong festivities culminated on October 12 with a grand showcase of achievements and talent. The main event included an exhibit by women’s associations and past skills training beneficiaries, fun-filled games, tokens, and refreshments for members transacting at the Main Office, MBA, and Youth Laboratory Office.
The culmination program drew representatives from key stakeholders, including the City Mayor’s Office, Davao del Norte Schools Division Office, and DTI Davao del Norte Provincial Office. Former and incumbent TC officers also attended, adding to the colorful celebration.
The highlight of the program was the much-anticipated “Coop Got Talent” competition. Eugene Jun Louie P. Maturan of the Main Branch emerged as the champion in the Regular Members category, while Denz Ivan Clint Obo secured the title in the Youth Lab category for the “Koop-Young Stars Talent Fest”, showcasing the cooperative’s vibrant community spirit.
Reflecting on the celebration, the Tagum Cooperative expressed gratitude to its members and stakeholders who have contributed to its success. “This milestone is a testament to the strength of our collective efforts. Together, we are not just celebrating the past but building a brighter tomorrow,” said Dir. Gertrudes L. Yap in her special message.
