Tagum City, Philippines – Tagum Cooperative (TC) proudly marks the second year of its TESDA Financial Assistance Program, designed to empower individuals through free skills training and financial support.
This year, the program is open to applicants interested in three vital TESDA-accredited courses: Organic Agriculture Production NCII in partnership with PTC-Davao del Norte (PTC-DDN), Animal Production (Poultry-Chicken) NCII in collaboration with KWR Permaculture, and Food Processing NCII in partnership with KorPhil.
Recently, TC held a Training Induction Program for its new scholars, a crucial orientation that ensures participants understand the program’s objectives, requirements, and the importance of dedication. The induction serves as a foundation for scholars, emphasizing the significance of completing their courses and applying their new skills to future employment opportunities.
Currently, scholars in the Organic Agriculture Production NCII and Animal Production (Poultry-Chicken) NCII programs are conducting hands-on demonstrations at the TC Agri-Eco Tourism Hub, showcasing their practical learning.
Meanwhile, the Food Processing NCII scholars are undergoing intensive training at KorPhil, where they are learning crucial food processing techniques.
Tagum Cooperative’s TESDA Financial Assistance Program reflects its continuous commitment to social and economic development in the community. The program aims to provide skills training to deserving individuals, helping them improve their employability and enhance their livelihood.
“Tagum Cooperative strongly believes that equipping community members with practical skills opens doors to greater job opportunities and empowers them to improve their quality of life,” said a TC representative.
KorPhil’s Head Trainer, Mario M. Dela Cerna, DIT, TDH, praised the initiative: “I am actually amazed at Tagum Cooperative for having this kind of scholarship. It is quite new for me, and I am very thankful for how Tagum Cooperative extends its efforts to reach out to the community.”
The TESDA Financial Assistance Program is just one of the many ways Tagum Cooperative continues to uphold its mission of contributing economic growth and social empowerment through education and skills development. Angenel Clariz D. Rufon

Having an insurance, whether life or accident, is not just a symbol of financial security. It is an expression of poured love and care in protecting your loved one’s future and serves as additional benefit for any unfortunate events.
The Membership Benefit Assistance (MBA), the insurance arm of Tagum Cooperative (TC), offers a way to show this love with the Love Your Self Always (LYSA) insurance plan. This renewable term insurance provides a comprehensive package, including Accidental Death & Permanent Disablement, Unprovoked Murder and Assault, Accident Medical Reimbursement and Accidental Burial Benefit.
LYSA provides 24/7 worldwide protection for white-collar who are office-based against accidents, whether for work or leisure, at home or while traveling. It covers flying as a passenger (not as a crew) on commercial, non-chartered, chartered, or military flights operated by a government authority.
Recently, a valued member, Mr. Joseph L. Balinawa, tragically passed away last August 22, 2023 due to traumatic brain injury after a severe fall injury. Fortunately, Mr. Balinawa had availed of the LYSA insurance policy prior his untimely demise.
His surviving spouse, Mrs. Josefa A. Balinawa, was able to claim Php 550,000, which included Php 500,000 for Accidental Death and Dismemberment and an Accidental Burial Cash Benefit.
With just a premium of Php 900.00, Mr. Balinawa was able to ensure financial protection for his family. His claim marks the first policy payout for TC’s LYSA insurance product and highlights that insurance is far more than just a contract—it’s a commitment to securing loved ones against financial risks in the face of life’s uncertainties.
