Celebrating a year of growth and learning, Tagum Cooperative recently graduated thirty-nine (39) District Representatives (DRs) from its Batch 2 Leadership Development Training Program (LDTP) on April 6, 2024, at the Molave Hotel, Tagum City. Initiated in June last year, this program is a crucial element of the cooperative’s succession planning aimed at grooming future cooperative officers.
Spanning nearly a year, participants immersed themselves in a series of learning sessions encompassing vital training modules essential for cooperative officers. These sessions expounded on various topics, from the Fundamentals of Cooperative and Cooperative Management to Governance, Introduction to Model Cooperative Building, Parliamentary Procedures, Credit Management, Risk Management, and Financial Management. Additionally, specialized topics such as the Roles and Functions of the Conciliation and Mediation Committee, and Ethical Standards of Co-ops were explored. Accredited providers from the Cooperative Development Authority, including NATCCO, MASS-SPECC, Model Cooperative Network, and PCU-D, delivered the training sessions.
A notable part of the training was the immersion phase, during which participants were assigned to specific committees within Tagum Cooperative. They attended meetings to observe the flow and leadership styles of current officers. Before graduation, participants took an annual examination covering all training topics throughout the entire training session.
The graduation ceremony began with a welcome message from the newly elected Chairperson of the Board, Dir. Rosamaria S. Torrejano. This was followed by an inspirational talk by Pastor Apriliel R. Salmon on “Spirituality in Leadership.” After a sumptuous lunch, the graduation proper commenced, recognizing participants with various awards: Completion of Immersion, Most Participative, Certificate of Appreciation for all 39 LDTP participants, and Sablay and Certificate of Recognition for those who successfully graduated the program.
Among those who garnered exemplary distinction were the top 3 participants namely, Mr. Joseph Quibol, Dr. Vincent Schubert Malbas, and Mr. Danilo Derro, — who were awarded a learning exposure trip to the cooperative federations’ General Assemblies, fully funded by TC.
The ceremony concluded with messages from the top 3 participants and a Closing Message from the Board of Director Hermarie T. Esmael, who reflected on the extensive and wonderful training journey initiated during her tenure as Chairperson of the Education Committee.
The LDTP Batch 2 Theme Song, “You Can Make It Happen,” highlighted the spirit of the event. The journey of Batch 2 does not end with the training. Participants are committed to serving the cooperative with a spirit of volunteerism and strong support as District Representatives of Tagum Cooperative. Leslie S. Canuto
