As Tagum Cooperative continuously takes a spotlight in various speaking engagement and fortify the communication prowess of its workforce, the Communications and Education Department (CED) particularly its Communications Unit hosted a training workshop on public speaking entitled “Communicate to Captivate” held last October 07, 2023, at the Tagum Cooperative-Function Hall.
Around forty-five (45) participants attended which included selected TC employees, staff, and officers for a day dedicated to honing the skills significant for effective and strategic communication. The event starts with an orientation and quorum of participants by Mr. Kenneth M. Tayogandaga, the Communication Press and Relations Officer (CPRO).
Dir. Hermarie T. Esmael, the Vice-Chairperson of the Board, shared her thoughts about the importance of having this kind of learning session, especially to the officers who are the frontliners in promoting Tagum Cooperative’s excellent impressions to the members. Furthermore, the Communications and Education Department (CED) Manager, Mrs. Al Gee Omega C. Bula stated that effective communication is the backbone of the cooperative realm and a key to improved teamwork, heightened productivity, and informed decision-making.
The climax of this event was the session by the resource speaker, Mr. Ace June Rell Perez, who skillfully guided the session by demonstrating practical approaches to overcoming and managing stage fright and imparting a few techniques to enhance radio anchoring and guesting. Also, Mr. Perez led the workshop by dividing the participants into five groups and giving them a scenario that they needed to portray to assess and practice what the participants had learned from the session.
Dir. Monica L. Salido, member of the Board of Directors, formally ended the event full of hope that what they have learned will not only remain in the four corners of the room, but she challenged the participants to apply their learnings by accepting the opportunity to be a host, radio anchor, and radio guest someday.Indeed, this initiative was a pivotal step for Tagum Cooperative in creating a culture of effective and strategic communication among its members and the community as a whole.
