In close coordination with the City Health Office of Tagum (CHO), Tagum Cooperative organized a mass blood donation drive on May 26, 2023, at the Gymnasium of Tagum Cooperative, with the Tagum Cooperative employees being the primary volunteers who wholeheartedly donated their blood to save lives and promote the spirit of giving.
In opening remarks delivered by the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Dir. Hermarie T. Esmael expressed her gratitude to the volunteers who will profoundly impact the lives of patients in need. Dir. Esmael emphasized the importance of blood donation as a way to increase blood supply in the city, thereby increasing the rate of more saved lives.
The said initiative involved local healthcare professionals from the CHO Tagum who efficiently maneuvered the procedure with Tagum Cooperative Member Benefit and Assistance (MBA) staff who provided the logistical arrangements and administrative support in the event.
Rigorous health screenings were conducted to ascertain the eligibility of each potential donor, guaranteeing the safety of the recipients who would benefit from the generosity.
The event also raised awareness about the importance of regular blood donation and addressed common misconceptions about the donation process. Through educational materials, donors were provided with valuable information about donating blood benefits, the screening process as well as the impact of blood contribution on the lives of recipients.
The success of the mass blood donation drive shows the real essence of unity, promoting the culture of giving and creating a positive impact on public health. Tagum Cooperative is always faithful to its mission of living the cooperative social responsibility into life. And with collaboration, the welfare of community health is elevated meaningfully.
