Tagum Cooperative successfully conducted the launching of the Leadership Development Training Program Batch 2 on June 24, 2023 at the TC Main Building, Tagum City, Davao Del Norte participated by selected District Representatives from the 16 participating districts of the Cooperative.

The successful conduct of this significant event was attended physically and virtually by the TC officials headed by the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Dir. Nenita R. Malbas and the Senior Management. In a welcome message, Dir. Malbas expressed her excitement for the outcome of this training program, where the requirements and qualifications leveled up, the program design was enhanced, and the various sectors in society were well represented.

Thrivingly, the conduct of the said event signals the series of training and developmental activities which shall take place within the implementation period that will commence in the succeeding month and shall last until the first quarter of the year 2024, which is in conjunction with the Leadership Succession Program and shall conform with the required training as written in the Tagum Coop bylaws for Tagum Coop Officers and from Republic Act 9520.

Strong leadership is essential to the growth and success of an organization like Tagum Cooperative, where a proactive approach and careful planning to develop and train leaders are at the helm of the succession program.

When a leader is equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and attributes, the organization can ensure its profitability and continuity, and this can only be achieved through intensive training, mentoring, coaching, and organizational exposure through immersion activities. In return, this identifies potential talent gaps and seeks to rectify those gaps through development and progression.

Moreover, this program is designed to give the participants different expertise from various industry sectors, such as business, health care, education, agriculture, government and private sectors, and others. Additionally, this is an opportunity to be informed of the cooperative movement, good governance and develop various skills such as but not limited to communications, decision-making, risk mitigation, and management to be prepared to assume a higher role in the cooperative.

Over the years, it has been evident that an organization’s rise and fall depends on its leaders’ decision-making. Thus, the recruitment process, training, and deployment is a crucial framework in the implementation and, when done correctly, will aid in achieving and shaping the desired outcome of good leadership.

To recall, it was the Election Committee of the Cooperative, in coordination with the 16 participating branches, who thoroughly screened and selected the applicants from the pool of district representatives. These participants, named “The Promising 40”, who passed the qualifications and requirements set by the Cooperative were endorsed to the Education Committee, who will spearhead the implementation of the Training Program with the approval of the Board of Directors.

After the program, Dir. Janet T. Matuguinas, Member of the Board of Directors, said that the willingness and commitment of the participants, “The Promising 40”, impressed her so much that she became more emotional and overwhelmed when she witnessed and heard their responses and pledge of commitment.

“The Promising 40”, as the name suggests, showing signs of future success will be the future hope of the cooperative! These potential leaders will be the successors and the success personified!
