An estimated 9M worth of destroyed property after the fire outbreak last February 25, 2023   in Prk. 8, Brgy. 21-C, Piapi Boulevard, Davao City. The initial investigation stated that the fire started around 1:05PM  and was declared fire out by 5:20PM. Other affected residential areas were Brgy 22, Piapi, Blvd. Davao City.

The fire outbreak ravaged a total of 545 houses, 511 of which were totally damaged, leaving more than 900 families deprived of their abode. A number of more than 300 homeowners of Brgy. 21C, Piapi Blvd., were either inside the evacuation centers, in their partially damaged homes, or temporarily staying with their relatives who were also residing in the same barangay.  

In the light of bringing people together and providing a sense of unity in times of crisis, last March 18, 2023, Tagum Cooperative conducted fire relief operations for 359 families at Brgy. 21C, Piapi Boulevard, Davao City. The said relief goods are packaged with basic humanitarian supplies.


Among those who led the operation was the Member of the Board of Directors Dir. Rosamaria S. Torrejano and the Communications, Education, and Community Development Manager Al Gee Omega C. Bula, together with the Branch Manager of Bajada Branch Clygenee S. Dairo.

In addition, Brgy. Captain Edmund Altizo also participated in the operation and helped with the distribution together with the police personnel and barangay staff.


Despite the devastation, the community has come together in a show of solidarity and compassion, demonstrating the strength and resilience of human spirit in the face of adversity. With the continued support and assistance of Tagum Cooperative, affected families are able to rebuild and recover, creating a brighter future for themselves and the community at large.
