The Provincial Government of Davao del Norte carried on its regular program “Kapihan sa Kapitolyo” on October 18, 2022 at PTV DavNor Studios, Tagum City.
The said program is part of implementing the Coop Month activity, putting weight on the relevance of the cooperative month and setting examples to the rest of cooperative members in Davao Region.
Kapihan sa Kapitolyo is a program under the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte, through the Information Office, calling key resource speakers from fields of expertise to participate and discuss processes in respective arenas.
In attendance, the Chairperson of the Board Dir. Janet T. Matuguinas graced the program and the Chairperson of the Checkered Farms Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multipurpose Cooperative (CFARBEMPCO) Dir. Eleuteria Chacon. Dir. Matuguinas emphasized the importance of the 7th Cooperative Principle ‘Concern for the Community and Environment’. “Cooperatives work for the sustainable development of their communities through policies supported by the membership”, she said.
Dir. Matuguinas stressed that the financial empowerment gained in the cooperative through patronizing products and services is translated to community activities as a way of returning the favor and being a setter of good example in the cooperative institutions or private sector as a whole.
In addition, the director recalled the donation of Tagum Cooperative to the Local Government Unit of Tagum worth Php 1,000,000.00 to finance the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out. She also added that Tagum Cooperative helped various provinces to go beyond, giving facemasks and tents to the community.
The month-long celebration of the Coop Month, with the local dialect theme “Kooperatiba Kabahin sa Kabag-ohan Para sa Katawhan, Kinaiyahan, ug Kalinaw ”. According to Dir Matuguinas, the theme highlighted the chain of financial reactions which cooperatives made to effectively impact members and other sectors including the government.
Furthermore, Dir. Matuguinas accentuated the significant role of Tagum Cooperative in the lives of Filipinos by providing products and services tailored to their needs. She stated that Tagum Cooperative is dedicated to meeting the needs of its members and the community.The initiative of Tagum Cooperative to assist and adjust in responding to the needs of member-clients-customers, despite setbacks and difficulties, reflects its legacy of providing excellent products and services to members. Tagum Cooperative is a shining example of how cooperatives can be a powerful force in the community. Its commitment to service excellence and its dedication to its mission and values evidently continues to be a driving force in reaching milestones. Tagum Cooperative is indeed one in nation-building and one in ‘bayanihan’.
