Education is essential towards achieving a brighter future for the younger generation and this can be achieved thru the utmost support of the general community and its stakeholders.

Tagum Cooperative, being the icon of trust and excellence and a strong supporter of the programs of the Department of Education, has launched its 150-day supplemental feeding dubbed as Hot Lunch Plus. This advocacy is in support to the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) in accordance with the General Appropriations Act (GAA) for FY 2019 and Republic Act No. 110037 entitled Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino Act.

This 2019, Tagum Cooperative has rolled-out its feeding program to five (5) school recipients namely: Cabugan Elementary School in Busaon, Tagum City; Lapu-Lapu Elementary School in Agdao, Davao City; Gatong Elementary School-Igang Extension and Banaog Elementary School both on Talaingod, Davao del Norte and Bayugan Central Elementary School in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.

With the constant provision of healthy foods based on approved meal plan, wasted and severely-wasted learners are anticipated to improve their nutritional status, increase classroom attendance and upsurge scholastic performance.

Mr. Vicente “Boy” Binag, TC Chairperson of Election Committee, stated that the children-recipients will soon grow up and one of them could be a great individual who can bring great changes to the country. He added further that the challenge is upon the teachers, parents and stakeholders to ensure that these children will not be taken for granted. He further advised the parents to take responsibility for their children’s future and not depend solely on the feeding program.
